There are 829 US HCN stations which have been continuously active since at least 1920. The vast majority of them set their all-time record maximum prior to 1950. The past decade has had very little record heat.

Hansen used to show that the US was much hotter in the past, before he started tampering with the data.

He wrote this in 1999, before he completely turned to the dark side of fraudulent science.

Empirical evidence does not lend much support to the notion that climate is headed precipitately toward more extreme heat and drought. The drought of 1999 covered a smaller area than the 1988 drought, when the Mississippi almost dried up.
